Today we are celebrating the Feast of the Epiphany of the Lord. This is where we celebrate the manifestation of our Lord to all the world as represented by the wise men who came from far different lands to pay homage to the newborn King.
In some cultures, it is during this feast day when they open gifts received during Christmas because tradition tells us that the wise men (or three kings) came bearing gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh to the child Jesus. I hope that you all continue to receive wonderful gifts throughout the whole year and I hope that you too can give the wonderful gift of your love to all as you continue to live your lives as followers of Jesus Christ. Let us do our best to make our King known to all the world through our love and service for all.
Speaking of giving gifts and receiving them, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for the wonderful gifts you have given me for my birthday and for Christmas. I really feel loved! And feeling loved, is I believe the best gift a pastor can receive from his parishioners. I cannot say it enough – I am so blessed to be here in Ashland as pastor of Our Lady of the Mountain.
I will continue to pray for the grace to be who God wants me to be as His minister to you His wonderful people. It is clear to me that you are all God’s gift to me, and I am grateful.
May God continue to bless our community as we continue to grow in our lives as followers of Jesus Christ.
In Christ, Fr. Maro
