Fr. Brent’s Weekly Message

Fr. BrentDear Friends,

As was mentioned in last weekend’s announcements and also at the Easter Vigil Mass, I would like to invite altar servers to return to all of the Masses. This is a great way to grow closer to Jesus by more directly participating in the celebration of the Mass.

Children must receive their first Communion before they can be altar servers and ideally, they would be in the fourth grade or older. If you  or your children are interested in being altar servers or have any questions, please give me a call at the office or send me an email. I will arrange a time for trainings, most likely before or between Masses.

Also last weekend, I mentioned that Archbishop Sample sincerely believes that God is about to bring about a renewal in the Church, especially here in Western Oregon. The Archbishop believes that this renewal has to begin with the clergy. He has very strongly “asked” all of the priests of the Archdiocese to join him for a special retreat/convocation in Portland during the first week of May. I will be attending this convocation which means we won’t be having daily Mass here on May 4 through 7; there will be a prayer service on those days.

I don’t like cancelling Masses, but I would like to ask all of you to offer this as a sacrifice on behalf of the work that God wants to do here. Please continue praying for me and the other clergy of the Archdiocese; we will be praying for you.

Verso l’alto (To the heights),
Father Brent Crowe
