Fr. Brent’s Weekly Message

Fr. BrentDear Friends,

To all of you who have been impacted by the fires, please know that you are in my prayers. I was in Mount Angel with Archbishop Sample and several other priests when the fires started and they asked me to express their concern and prayers for you.

As we begin the long process of recovery, many people are asking how they can help. For right now, we are directing those who need assistance and those who want to help to the Rogue Valley Preparedness and Recovery Hub as well as Southern Oregon Helps. The St. Vincent de Paul Society is also accepting financial contributions. The parish staff and councils are considering a few different options on what we can do locally to help out, but I cannot go into detail about these right now. Hopefully we will have more details very soon. In the meantime, please reach out to families in need and keep in touch with me and the parish staff so that we can know where help is needed.

Now for a few words of warning. First, please do not spread rumors. Go to official sources of information such as the City of Ashland website or reputable local news channels. Secondly, please be aware of the fraud and scams that often come in the wake of disasters. Do not give out personal information if someone contacts you via text, email, or the phone. If you receive such a text or email from someone claiming to be “me” or a member of the parish staff, let us know. Please stay safe.

This past week we observed the memorial of Our Lady of Sorrows; she is weeping for us today. Entrust yourselves to her care by praying the Seven Sorrows Rosary. A good resource on how to pray this ancient prayer can be found at https://www.immaculee.com/pages/7-sorrows-rosary-prayer or you can just ask me and I will teach it to you. Please pray for rain and please keep each other in prayer.

Verso l’alto,
Father Brent Crowe
