This weekend is the awareness weekend for this year’s Archbishop’s Catholic Appeal, (ACA). In the next couple of weekends, we will be reminded of our responsibility to help in the mission of the Catholic Church here in Western Oregon. I would like to ask all of you to once again, prayerfully discern how much you can contribute to this appeal. Every amount you donate will go to the different ministries that the ACA is responsible for. There will be an insert in next week’s bulletin to make this clearer for all of you.
This year’s ACA theme is “Fix your eyes on Jesus Christ.” As we continue to be partners in the mission of Jesus Christ here in Western Oregon, let us fix our eyes on Him and truly have Him in our minds and hearts as we make our donations. Let us allow the Holy Spirit to lead us to give that which we can afford to give. For some, giving to the ACA will be easy; but for most, it will be challenging. So let us include in the whole process our prayerful discernment; so that whatever amount we decide to give, we can be sure that it is the amount that the Lord wants us to give. Also, bear in mind that all donations to the ACA, no matter the amount, are appreciated and are useful for the ministries of the Archdiocese of Portland.
In the coming days, most of you will be receiving a mailing from the Archbishop and inside will be the pledge card/envelope. You may use this to send your donations through the mail, or you may use the envelopes that will be provided on commitment Sunday on the weekend of February 23-24.
Thank you very much in advance; and again, please pray to seek the Holy Spirit’s guidance as you make your decision on how much you will contribute this year for the Archbishop’s Catholic Appeal. May God continue to bless us all.
