Fr. Maro’s Weekly Message

Fr. MaroDear Parishioners,

Last Thursday (August 15th) we celebrated our parish feast day in the celebration of the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Happy Feast Day!!!

Aside from the fact that it is our parish feast day, the Solemnity of the Assumption is truly something to celebrate because it gives us hope that one day we shall also share in the glory that our God has bestowed on Mary.

Brothers and sisters, all of us are called to be servants of our Father in heaven. In baptism, we were given the light of Christ and as we live our lives as his followers, we continue to grow in our faith using that light of Jesus Christ to guide not only ourselves, but also those who are given to our care. In receiving Jesus in the Eucharist, we are given a share in the intimacy that our Blessed Mother had with Jesus. It is our hope that as our Blessed Mother is now eternally glorified with Jesus in heaven, so too will we be glorified in heaven. But we have to persevere in our lives as followers and servants of Jesus Christ, even at times where there are pain and difficulties. Our Blessed Mother’s life as a servant of God was not free of difficulties and sorrows but she remained steadfast in her faith and that is how we should be as well. In our celebration, we are committing ourselves to follow the example of our Blessed Mother in being faithful servants of our God in heaven.

We are so blessed to have our parish community where we can continue to grow in our faith and be blessed as we continue on our journey to heaven. Let us pray for our patroness’ intercession, that through our parish community here at Our Lady of the Mountain Parish, we may constantly experience the grace of God working in our lives – the same grace that worked in our Blessed Mother’s life.

May we always recognize the beauty of the Eucharist in all the celebrations that we have and may we always be for one another servants of God.

Brothers and sisters, happy feast day!

In Christ,
Fr. Maro
