As we end the holy season of Christmas in the celebration of the feast of our Lord’s Baptism, let us call to mind our own baptism. As baptized followers of Jesus Christ, let us be reminded that we in our own baptism, were anointed to be sharers in our Lord’s priestly, prophetic, and kingly ministry – let us persevere in this ministry. Throughout the public life of our Lord that ultimately led to him laying down his life out of love for all of us, he gave us an example to follow. Every day let us strive to grow in our life as priests, prophets, and kings after the example of our Lord and savior, Jesus Christ our King.
In the coming Sundays, the Gospel readings will be about the public life and ministry of our Lord. Let us pay close attention and let us strive to unite ourselves with our Lord’s ministry – every day let us give ourselves in service to others and truly be witnesses of our Lord’s love for them; let us preach the Gospel values in our words and in our actions; and let us be instruments in offering sacrifices for the sanctification of souls (including our own) and ultimately for the glory of our God. May God bless us and guide us always.
